前のバッテリー、あんまり持たなかった、考えてみると。1年半？ 最初の純正が3年くらいだったし。今回は純正よりもパワーがあるというやつを買ってみた。4,000円弱。2回目なのでさくっと交換終了。
まだまだがんばれ第4世代。
画像の色がおかしいのは、iPhoneアプリのToyCamera使ったから。
３年以上愛用している第4世代iPodのバッテリーが、最近は１時間持つか持たないかというくらいへたってきたので、交換を決意！
でもAppleカナダだとバカ高いので、自分で交換をしてみることにした。
購入したのは、Sonnetという会社のバッテリー。
So I decided to change the battery of my 4G iPod which I have been using for more than 3 years since it only lasted an hour or so lately. I was going to use the Apple's battery exchange program but discarded the idea as it was too expensive (compared to Apple Japan). Then I found a store that sells iPod batteries and ordered one.
ビデオを見た感じだと、青い工具を使ってひょひょい！とiPodを開けてたんだけど、私がやってみると全然開かないんだけど！！！ 隙間に工具を差し込めても、パカっとは開かない…。長い奮闘の末、自前のマイナスドライバーの力も借りて、ようやくiPodを開けることができた。開けるの難しいわ、ホント。開いて良かったよ。iPodも傷つかなかったし。
The toughest part was opening the iPod. In the video (in the CD-ROM) it seemed so easy and the person opened an iPod within a minute but geez it took me a lot of effort to open mine! After struggling for 15 min. or so I finally managed to open my iPod with a help from a minus screwdriver. The blue thingey was just not enough for me to open the iPod. I'm glad I didn't leave any big scratches on my iPod.
この次の難関は、バッテリー外し。接着剤でペターっと張り付いてるので、ロジックボードに触れないようにしながら慎重に慎重にバッテリーをはがさないといけなくて、これもかなり時間を使った。
バッテリーが外れたらあとは簡単。バッテリーをコネクタから外して、新しいバッテリーを代わりに入れて、HDDを元に戻して、iPodの外装を元通りにはめるだけ。
ちなみに、今までiPodを振るとカラカラ小さい音がしてたんだけど、コネクタの部分のネジが外れてた。ついでにこれも付け直しておいた。色々時間かかったように感じたけど、１時間もかからなかった。
新しいiPod買うか悩んだけど、第4世代がお気に入りなのと、カナダで買うと高いので、まだまだこれに頑張ってもらうことに。
After opening, the next hard thing was peeling the old battery off from the body. It was glued to the body so I had to carefully peel it off while making sure that I don't touch the logic board. The video suggested to use a hair dryer to warm the battery to make it easier to peel it off. After taking the battery out, the rest of the procedure was really easy. I just connected the new battery and put it in, put the HDD back in, and closed the iPod. The whole process seemed to took me a long time but it was really done in less than an hour.
Yes, I thought about buying a new iPod instead but I really like my 4G iPod and iPods are just so expensive here in Canada (not interested in nano or shuffle). If I'm buying a new one I'll wait till next time I'm back in Japan. I'll stick with this one till then.
THIS IS SUPER COOL.
But I don't live in the US and I don't even know if I will still be in Canada when Rogers starts selling iPhone here.

新しいiPhoneのCM３つ。
ｲﾗﾈ、とか思ってたけどやっぱりいいなーこれ。でもカナダに来るのは早くても来年だろうし、それまでにカナダにいるかどうかもわからないし。
そういえば私のiPod、バッテリーが切れる早さが顕著になってきた。３年フルに使いまくりなわけで、バッテリーがへたれているのは間違いない。
でも正直今のiPodをそこまで欲しいと思わない。なんか画面とクルクルのバランスが気に入らない。第４世代愛してるし、今のはFirewire使えないんじゃなかったっけ？（
オレンジのあの場所にLast.FMのパクり機能があって、昨日から使い始めたんだけど、何故かiPodで聴いた曲が反映されない。ヘルプ見たら反映されるはずなんだけど。私のiPodは古過ぎでダメなのかー？ iPod反映されないんならあんまり使えないーブー。
Last.FMは去年までやってたけど、どうでもよくなってやめちゃった。
この記事を読んで、iPodの残りの寿命を計算してみた。
151日かー。もう２年半以上使っているので、そろそろ寿命って事？ 確かに最近動作がおかしい時あるけど、これは外気温−20℃なのも影響しているかと。家の中では普通に動くから。次の世代のiPod出るまで持って欲しいんだけどなぁ。今のはそんなに欲しくないし、第４世代愛してるので。

I used iPod Death Clock to calculate how long my 4th generation iPod will last. And here it is: 151 days!
Considering my iPod is more than 2 years old this estimate seems reasonable. I just hope that new iPod will come out before my iPod stops working. I don't want the current newest iPod that much.
